Unidos do Samba Queixinho, Circuito Baixa Gastronomia por Nenel, Bar do Caçapa, Belo Horizonte [4k]

#samba #carnavalbh #belohorizonte "Bloco Samba Queixinho: culture with a political bias Arising from a joke between friends in 2009, Bloco Unidos do Samba Queixinho was created by Gustavo Caetano, with the intention of bringing fun and joy to the streets of BH, as well as mixing culture with a political bias and connecting people who are interested in percussive music. The block has always had a politically engaged parade, but it was in 2011 that they had the idea of leaving Praça da Liberdade and taking to the streets to question the government of Aécio Neves — governor at the time — and placed the block in front of the Government Palace, which was a great act of boldness. To this day, they always seek to address current issues, such as the fight against homophobia, and want to evolve the procession, taking it to other less centralized areas. The goal is to occupy squares, parks, neighborhoods, and the city as a whole. The drums are always studying, carrying out rehearsals and workshops, in order to always deliver the best gift to the public. Its first performance was on February 4, 2009, and just as BH's carnival grows year after year, Samba Queixinho has followed this growth, becoming one of the best known in the city. Band composition and drums Despite being recognized as a samba school drum kit, Samba Queixinho also has a band that perfectly manages to transfer all the energy and power from the streets to the shows. They have an exciting and happy carnival repertoire, made up of MPB, Brazilian music classics, Afro-Brazilian rhythms, samba and its aspects. Repiques, surdos, tambourines, boxes and rattles make up the drums, which perform original percussive rhythms, giving identity and style to the performances. Master Gustavo Caetano, founder of the block, as well as a journalist and musician, is in front of the drums, commanding his 350 rhythmists through the BH street carnival." - https://www.uai.com.br/app/noticia/carnauai/2023/01/11/interna-carnauai,314803/politica-e-cultura-bloco-samba-queixinho-nasceu-de-uma-manifestacao.shtml#google_vignette "Unidos do Samba Queixinho was initially formed by a group of eight friends during the 2009 carnival, who wanted to have fun and had plenty of desire to put the group on the street. At the time, there was a movement to revive street carnival in BH, as a manifestation of popular culture. In the following years, Unidos do Samba Queixinho group grew gradually and today maintains its own space to hold percussion workshops that take place throughout the year preceding Carnival. The drums are conducted by the founder and Master Gustavo Caetano, who performs bossas and calls, authorial percussive rhythms and is composed of the following instruments: rock, tambourine, repique, snare drum and surdo." - https://portalbelohorizonte.com.br/carnaval/2024/programacao/bloco-de-rua/desfile/unidos-do-samba-queixinho

The Composers Quarter Hamburg, Walking Tour, Germany: Brahms, Telemann, Bach, Mendelssohn, Mahler

The cultural metropolis of Hamburg looks back on a far-reaching and unique music history. Important composers have seen the light of day or spent part of their lives in the port city and contributed to the diversity of the Hanseatic musical landscape with their work. The composers' quarter in the historically reconstructed Hamburg Bürger- und Kaufmannshäuser in Neustadt is a unique place that brings the musical history of the Hanseatic city back to life. Since 1971, music lovers have been able to follow in the footsteps of Johannes Brahms in the quarter's first museum. In 2011, the world's only Telemann Museum was added, dedicated to the work of the respected composer and former music director. The Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Museum and the Johann Adolf Hasse Museum also opened in March 2015. Further exhibition spaces dealing with the life and work of Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn and Gustav Mahler were added in May 2018." - https://www.hamburg-travel.com/see-explore/culture-music/museums-galleries/composers-quarter/ "The Brahms-Museum, Hamburg A meeting point for music-lovers from all over the world A 1751 listed merchant’s house, typical of historical Hamburg, has been home since 1971 to the Hamburg Brahms-Museum with its team of volunteer staff. The house of Johannes Brahms’ birth, destroyed in 1943, was located in the vicinity. The Museum was initiated and is sponsored by the Hamburg Johannes-Brahms-Association. In this exhibition of the life and works of the famous composer, the Museum has its prime focus on the almost 3 decades in which the young Brahms in Hamburg received his musical training as a pianist and composer, creating at this early stage brilliant works. His first journey to Vienna – at that time global capital of music – came at the age of 29 in September 1862. Here he was to spend the rest of his life, adopting the city as his second home. Displayed in the museum are musical works, writings, concert programmes, artefacts, photographs and sculptures of Brahms, including on permanent loan from the Hamburg Art Gallery the below pictured marble bust created by the Vienna artist Ilse Conrat. A further highlight of the Museum is a square piano, manufactured in 1851 by the Hamburg firm Baumgardten & Heins, on which Johannes Brahms himself gave piano tuition. The Museum possesses the complete recorded music of Johannes Brahms on CD, as well as a reference library, including all volumes of the old Johannes Brahms Complete Edition as well as the presently published volumes of the New Johannes Brahms Complete Edition. Naturally the Museum also participates in the annual Hamburg “Long Night of the Museums”. A changing series of exhibitions in display cabinets address specific aspects of the life and works of the musician, his associates and the surrounding circumstances. The Brahms-Museum became part of the Hamburg Komponisten-Quartier in March 2015." - https://brahms-hamburg.de/en/the-brahms-museum/

Jazzkeller Frankfurt - Europe’s oldest private Jazz Club since 1952: Jazz Jam Session [4K]

#jazz #jazzclub #frankfurt "The Jazzkeller · Frankfurt / Main - Since 1952 Located in a basement grotto on Kleine Bockenheimer Strasse 18a (in the heart of the city, near Goethestrasse) has played host to most of the world's greatest jazz musicians over the past forty-seven years. Memories of many unforgetable events are forever captured in the JAZZKELLER`s red brick walls... Johnny Hodges drew his own beer from our tap. Louis Armstrong spilled red wine all over his tuxedo, trying to maneuver through the crowd. Dizzy Gillespie had some difficulty blowing his horn after we provided too many complimentary drinks (sometimes we are too hospitable!) - and on another truly memorable evening Lionel Hampton played "four hand" piano with German jazz pianist Jutta Hipp. Roy Eldridge, Gerry Mulligan, Percy Heath, even Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra (with his bodyguard of course) came to the JAZZKELLER and electrified the air. While a soldier in the US-Army, Eddie Harris was swingin' and boppin' many nights after duty hours...Just some of the magic memories of the JAZZKELLER's legendary history during the "Fabulous Fifties". Many of the great names in jazz kept coming back: Eddie Harris, in his early sixties, performed here twice a year, as our "commercial guest", playing Funk and Rockjazz on his electric saxophone. The late Chet Baker gave one of his last concerts on our stage; Dizzy Gillespie reminisced with the audience about the past when he came to perform in December 1988... The JAZZKELLER is still THE place for live jazz in Germany, it is Frankfurt's "Village Vanguard". Throughout the year you can see, feel and hear some of the world's greatest in jazz, up close, in a relaxed "jazzy" atmosphere. Archie Shepp, Flora Purim, Paquito D’Rivera, Ray Brown, Lou Donaldson and Clark Terry are just some of our more recent artists. In addition to top names in jazz, many excellent local jazz musicians perform here as well. Though small size, the JAZZKELLER is equipped with a first class grand piano, a superb sound system, air conditioning and a rustic but "gemütliche" ambience. We offer one of Germany's finest beers "LICHER PILS", quality wines, cocktails, soft drinks, espresso... Every night, see the monthly program flyer (Monday and Tuesday, - unless we offer a good concert - we're usually closed), our international clientele is welcome to enyoy the JAZZKELLER's unique, jazzy atmosphere of the 50's with comfort of today." - https://www.europejazz.net/club/jazzkeller-frankfurt 00:00:00 Jazzkeller 00:01:42 Piano tunning 00:02:16 Old Fashioned - € 15 (Dec. 2023) 00:02:40 Jazz Jam Session - First set 00:15:43 Gaea Olives and Chips - € 6 (Dec.2023) 00:15:57 Faust Crafted Pils Beer 0.33L - € 5 (Dec. 2023) 00:26:22 Piano tunning 00:26:49 Jazz Jam Session - Second set
