The State Opera of Berlin is one of the most renowned opera houses in the world. Located centrally on the boulevard Unter den Linden, this ensemble has been been delighting visitors since its first performance in 1742." - https://lnkd.in/gyxm9RPp " ... The State opera Unter den Linden was built as the first detached court opera building in Europe in 1742. The building was severely damaged several times in history (1842, 1942,1945) and also restored or renovated several times (1788,1910,1928,1986). The in 2009 existing situation was created after the war, in 1955. In the period from 2010 to 2017 the building was fully renovated and all technical equipment renewed. A new rehearsal building was realised with 7 rehearsal halls, including a choir rehearsal hall and an orchestra rehearsal hall. The historic opera hall has 1350 seats and a small hall with a flat floor: the beautiful Apollosaal. This paper concentrates on the acoustical aspects of the renovation of the opera hall. Starting points of the renovation are a substantial improvements of the room acoustic of the hall , at the same time preserving the architectural design and monumental status of the hall. Since the acoustic of the hall results from the geometry and the architecture, this is a contradiction in requirements." - Martijn Vercammen, Margriet Lautenbach, Peutz Netherlands https://lnkd.in/gH2rYZZh " ... PyBerlin 34 - Summer Event - Homemade Tribute Aftermovie - Python

PyBerlin Meetup - PyBerlin 34 - ☀️☀️ Summer event ☀️☀️ https://www.meetup.com/pyberlin/ "Agenda: • 18:30 - Opening doors of the venue • 19:00 - Welcome to PyBerlin! // Organisers • 19:10 - Welcome from the host! • 19:20 - Building a Banking System with Python // Christian Barra Talk description: The title is catchy and I won't ask for your money during the talk. But have you ever thought about what it could take to build a bank? or an e-money company that facilitates the flow of funds? During this talk I'll give a brief overview of how money actually moves around the world, especially in Europe and US. And then we will play with some Python, to build our PyBank. Speaker's bio: Christian is the founder of tresorbase.com, a company that offers API and building blocks that developers can leverage to build finance and finance operations tools. He is a former Software Engineer and Tech Lead, and helped companies like Cariad, Wayfair and Infarm. He is an active member of the tech community in Berlin, and a Python Software Foundation Fellow. You can follow him on twitter @christianbarra • 19:50 - Short break • 20:20 - Playwright Comes to Python // Max Schmitt Talk description: In this talk, we’ll spend an imaginary month with Playwright for Python. On day 1, we’ll set up reliable, cross-browser, end-to-end tests using Playwright for Python in less than 60 seconds. On day 3, we’ll learn how to easily author end-to-end tests using Playwright codegen feature. On day 7, we’ll debug our first test using Playwright Inspector. On day 30, we’ll use Playwright Tracing to analyze a test that fails exclusively on CI. During this time, we’ll also learn about the framework’s unique APIs and capabilities. By the end of the journey, you’ll be comfortable to start using Playwright for Python! Speaker's bio: Max Schmitt is a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, living in Berlin and working in the Playwright core team. He was contributing to Playwright since it got published on GitHub and joined Microsoft 1,5 years ago. Playwright itself is a testing framework with which you can automate Chromium, Firefox, WebKit and write end-to-end tests in Node.js, Python, .NET, or Java. • 20:50 - Using Deep Language Models with Txtai and DiscoArt // Gerald Schuller Talk description: Deep Neural Networks language models use "embeddings" (vector representations) to construct a "distance measure" for meanings as loss function. This can be used for translations, transcriptions (using Txtai), and also for generating images from text descriptions, where an image "denoiser" (Disco Diffusion) tries to denoise an image in such a way such that the description another DNN (CLIP) generates comes close in meaning to the provided text (DiscoArt). The talk will show example application in Google Colab notebooks, like translating a Colab notebook, transcribing an audio recording, and generating images. Speakers Bio: Gerald Schuller is a professor at Ilmenau University of Technology in the Institute for Media Technology, where he heads the "Applied Media Systems" group, working on audio and music signal processing and deep learning. Before that he worked for Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, in Murray Hill, New Jersey, a suburb of New York City. He studied at TU Clausthal, Uni Bonn, TU Berlin, University of Hanover, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, and the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. • 21:20 - Closing session // Organisers This event will be only in-person. Please check our Code of Conduct and official health regulation in Berlin before coming. If you feel some signs of sickness, please consider skipping this event and attending another time. We will have plenty of events in different formats in the future. Looking forward seeing you all soon!" - https://www.meetup.com/pyberlin/events/287489508/
