But have you ever thought about what it could take to build a bank? or an e-money company that facilitates the flow of funds? During this talk I'll give a brief overview of how money actually moves around the world, especially in Europe and US. And then we will play with some Python, to build our PyBank. Speaker's bio: Christian is the founder of tresorbase.com, a company that offers API and building blocks that developers can leverage to build finance and finance operations tools. He is a former Software Engineer and Tech Lead, and helped companies like Cariad, Wayfair and Infarm. He is an active member of the tech community in Berlin, and a Python Software Foundation Fellow. You can follow him on twitter @christianbarra • 19:50 - Short break • 20:20 - Playwright Comes to Python // Max Schmitt Talk description: In this talk, we’ll spend an imaginary month with Playwright for Python. On day 1, we’ll set up reliable, cross-browser, end-to-end tests using Playwright for Python in less than 60 seconds. On day 3, we’ll learn how to easily author end-to-end tests using Playwright codegen feature. On day 7, we’ll debug our first test using Playwright Inspector. On day 30, we’ll use Playwright Tracing to analyze a test that fails exclusively on CI. During this time, we’ll also learn about the framework’s unique APIs and capabilities. By the end of the journey, you’ll be comfortable to start using Playwright for Python! Speaker's bio: Max Schmitt is a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, living in Berlin and working in the Playwright core team. He was contributing to Playwright since it got published on GitHub and joined Microsoft 1,5 years ago. Playwright itself is a testing framework with which you can automate Chromium, Firefox, WebKit and write end-to-end tests in Node.js, Python, .NET, or Java. • 20:50 - Using Deep Language Models with Txtai and DiscoArt // Gerald Schuller Talk description: Deep Neural Networks language models use "embeddings" (vector representations) to construct a "distance measure" for meanings as loss function. This can be used for translations, transcriptions (using Txtai), and also for generating images from text descriptions, where an image "denoiser" (Disco Diffusion) tries to denoise an image in such a way such that the description another DNN (CLIP) generates comes close in meaning to the provided text (DiscoArt). The talk will show example application in Google Colab notebooks, like translating a Colab notebook, transcribing an audio recording, and generating images. Speakers Bio: Gerald Schuller is a professor at Ilmenau University of Technology in the Institute for Media Technology, where he heads the "Applied Media Systems" group, working on audio and music signal processing and deep learning. Before that he worked for Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, in Murray Hill, New Jersey, a suburb of New York City. He studied at TU Clausthal, Uni Bonn, TU Berlin, University of Hanover, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, and the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. • 21:20 - Closing session // Organisers This event will be only in-person.
